A program named ‘Saṃvāda with Rishiraj’ has been started by the young Sanskrit poet and scholar Dr. Rishiraj Pathak, who is the director and presenter of the series. Saṃvāda, or ‘fruitful dialogue’, has always been part of the Indian tradition. This series of ‘Saṃvāda sessions’ with the eminent scholars and artists of the country and abroad, hosted by Dr. Rishiraj Pathak in a dialogue or discussion format, will prove invaluable to the general public, acquainting them with the various arts and sciences of the country.

The tradition of Saṃvāda in India, has been practiced since times immemorial, and appeals so naturally and organically to the Indian psyche, that we see it right from the ancient Vedic lore to the classical periods, and to the folk traditions in India. So much so, that all the ancient sciences of India have been discoursed through dialogue, be it lofty philosophy of the Upanishads, the discourse of the Gita, or the itihāsa scriptures like Mahābhārata, Puraṇas etc., or even the texts on medicine, tantra or nāṭya. The famous Shiva-Pārvati saṃvāda and Kāgabhuśuṃḍī-Garuḍa saṃvāda are fine examples of this tradition.

The program ‘Saṃvāda with Rishiraj’ is also envisaged in this style. Following on the footsteps of this ancient tradition, it aims to introduce to the general public the eminent personalities, the various scholars, artists, poets, grammarians, polymaths and their works. These discussions, it is hoped, will not only be saved into the archives for future generations, but will serve a live catalyst for the Indian Renaissance in this 21st century.
